Get active and get your heart rate going
You already know that exercise is a big part of a healthy lifestyle. We understand that it’s not always easy to get started, but physical activity is good for your heart. It helps make your heart stronger so it can pump more blood with less effort. And this can help lower your blood pressure.
Aerobic activity, or any physical activity that gets your heart and breathing rates up, is best. This includes walking, swimming, cross-country skiing, and household chores like mowing the lawn and raking leaves.
The #1 rule: Pick something you like
Motivation is the key to staying with any exercise routine. So if you decide to do something you really like, or can experience with a friend or loved one, you’ll be more likely to stick with it. And remember to talk to your doctor before starting any exercise or fitness routine.

Lace ’em up

It’s playtime
Head outside for a game of catch, hoops, or playing in the yard.
Get your hands dirty
Gardening is a low-impact way to burn calories.
Here, boy!
Taking your dog for a walk is good exercise for both of you.
Make exercise part of your regular routine
We know that adding exercise to your daily routine can be a challenge. But you should try to make time every day for physical activity. This could be as simple as taking the stairs instead of an elevator or going for a quick walk during lunch. To achieve the best health benefits, your goal should be 30 minutes of aerobic exercise at least 5 days a week. You can break this into three 10-minute workouts for the same results.
